Middle East History and Bible Prophecy

The link below is a church service given by an expert in Middle East history and Bible prophecies, spoken right before the uprising in Egypt, Feb 9, 2011. It is jam packed with historical information about the Middle East. I'm transcribing it and doing a bit of research to be less ignorant of that culture.

He is very easy to listen to, speaks to the common man so to speak, you will be blessed if you listen as well. Click the link, go to the page then click video to play, the player will open in a new window and you can follow along below if you wish.

Isaiah 19

1The burden of Egypt. Behold, the LORD rideth upon a swift cloud, and shall come into Egypt: and the idols of Egypt shall be moved at his presence, and the heart of Egypt shall melt in the midst of it.

2And I will set the Egyptians against the Egyptians: and they shall fight every one against his brother, and every one against his neighbour; city against city, and kingdom against kingdom.

3And the spirit of Egypt shall fail in the midst thereof; and I will destroy the counsel thereof: and they shall seek to the idols, and to the charmers, and to them that have familiar spirits, and to the wizards.

4And the Egyptians will I give over into the hand of a cruel lord; and a fierce king shall rule over them, saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts.

In the book of Isaiah- a book packed with prophecies- many, many of the prophesies have what is called a near fulfillment and a far fulfillment.

That is, there’s a fulfillment that applies to the people in Isaiah’s day, but it's not the complete fulfillment of the prophecy. There’s another aspect to that prophecy, that being, it is fulfilled down the road- at a time often times very far away.

Sometimes its called double fulfillment. Many examples we could give you, but suffice it to say, right now, this idea of a near and far fulfillment is frequently found in the scriptures and in Isaiah particularly. This passage is one of those kinds of prophecies.

The burden of Egypt has both a near fulfillment and a far fulfillment. The near fulfillment speaks as we shall see -if we get there into chapter 20- that is, the coming of the Assyrians marching from the north down south all the way into Egypt and they would by conquered, (the Egyptians would be conquered) by the Assyrians.

That’s the near fulfillment. That is articulated (if we don’t get there) very definitely as the burden goes on into chapter 20 for you Bible students note takers, folks that want to further study these things.

But the far fulfillment is also embedded very clearly in this prophecy. It doesn’t just speak of that time in Isaiah's day when the Assyrians would come and cause havoc in Egypt and but it speaks of another time, I believe that time is in our day.

Why do I say that well look at chapter 19 to set the stage…it says

16In that day shall Egypt be like unto women: and it shall be afraid and fear because of the shaking of the hand of the LORD of hosts, which he shaketh over it.

17And the land of Judah shall be a terror unto Egypt, every one that maketh mention thereof shall be afraid in himself, because of the counsel of the LORD of hosts, which he hath determined against it.

18In that day shall five cities in the land of Egypt speak the language of Canaan, (which is Hebrews as your margin renders it) and swear to the LORD of hosts; one shall be called, The city of destruction.

5 major cities speaking Hebrew one of the cities though is destroyed in the havoc that comes in this day.

19In that day shall there be an altar to the LORD in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar at the border thereof to the LORD.

Can you imagine that and a pillar at the border between Canaan or between Israel and Egypt a pillar honoring the lord of Israel.

20And it shall be for a sign and for a witness unto the LORD of hosts in the land of Egypt: for they shall cry unto the LORD because of the oppressors, and he shall send them a saviour, and a great one, and he shall deliver them.

Deliver who? -the Egyptians. Who will this saviour be? -it’s the lord Jesus Christ you see.

Because it says

21And the LORD shall be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians shall know the LORD in that day, and shall do sacrifice and oblation; yea, they shall vow a vow unto the LORD, and perform it.

22And the LORD shall smite Egypt: he shall smite and heal it: and they shall return even to the LORD, and he shall be entreated of them, and shall heal them.

Now watch this for you geo politiacal students, you middle east watchers.
23In that day shall there be a highway out of Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian shall come into Egypt, and the Egyptian into Assyria, and the Egyptians shall serve with the Assyrians.

Assyria is north it is present day Iran and Iraq.

A highway from Iran Iraq, all the way to Egypt -watch this- and the Assyrians will come into Egypt -the implication is peaceably and peacefully- and the Egyptians shall go up to Assyria -the implication, peacefully and peaceably- and the Egyptians and Egyptians shall serve with the Assyrians. Serve who…well…

24In that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, even a blessing in the midst of the land:

25Whom the LORD of hosts shall bless, saying, Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel mine inheritance.

This is mind boggling. The Lord says in that day, -the Assyrians to the north the Egyptians in the south, Israel in the middle- -All three shall be my people. They'll call upon me, they'll be looking to me, believing in me, walking with me. you need to remember this.

This is the end game. This is the final result.

When you watch what's happening in Iran and Iraq and it makes your blood boil and the hairs stand up on the back of your neck, or if you see what's happening in Egypt we'll be talking about shortly, and it causes you to feel perhaps hostility fear frustration whatever it might be ...remember the end game.

The end game as the Lord says, I'm going to say, blessed is my people Egypt and Assyria the work of my hands and Israel mine inheritance.

That whole region is going to be believing in the Lord, walking with the Lord, and serving side by side these three. Assyria, Iraq and Iran, Israel and Egypt, you see, serving the Lord.

So, bear that in mind as you watch events take place. Stay away from any tendency or propensity towards bigotry or hostility -towards any person- but rather say, 'wait a minute' yes, right now there is blindness and deception but the Lord is going to win at the end of the day.

And He's going to look upon those that we might feel tension towards or anger at. The Lord says, hey, I have got a grand plan for them too see.

So all that's to say (back to our discussion point,) when its talking here in vs 17 to 25 its not talking about the time of the Assyrian Invasion, its taking about the day of the Lord.

It's talking about when the whole region is saved and worships together- that has not happened in history. That is yet to be. It's a prophecy. Are you with me. That's why we know that chapter 19 is a double fulfilment or a near and far fulfilment prophecy. There's an immediate situation with Assyria but its speaking of much more than that. It's much bigger than that.

In the last days Egypt is going to be smitten. But then God says the purpose will ultimately be to bring healing to her. Along with Assyria as well. The kingdom shall be established god shall reign.

So we see this smiting process, how it looks. Before the Lord comes and establishes his peace, and Assyria and Egypt and Israel traveling together worshiping the lord in submission to Him.

The Lord says first, though, before that, preceding that, some thing's going to happen.

And that is what we read in our text vs 1 through 4, there's going to come turmoil in the land, brother shall fight vs 2 against his brother and there's going to come a spirit of false demonic deceptions in the midst of the land. I want to talk about that for a bit.

What's happening right now, brother against brother in Egypt.

You're aware of -you're familiar with the Brotherhood. The Muslim Brotherhood. That's the driving force behind all the turmoil. Oh maybe not the initiators that still remains to be discovered.
But certainly the hijackers of it all.

The Muslim Brotherhood, you need to know something about this, for that region to make sense as you watch it unfold in the news.

A lot of people look at Islam as being monolithic...that is all Muslims are in the same camp...not so. there is a deep division in Islam. and you won't understand the crisis in Egypt and whats going on in Iran unless you understand the division in Islam.

Mohamed in 622 --by the way, parenthetically, you'll notice this... in your newspapers as of 18 months ago approximately, Roiters, AP, in biggest newspapers in your reading of news reports, keep your eyes open and you'll see, Mohamed no longer referred to as simply Mohamed, he's called the 'prophet' Mohamed

That's a change that's happened in the last 18 months with a capital p, he's referred to in news stories no longer as Mohamed but 'the prophet mohamed' in deference to Islam to the pressures that they are placing on the world today.

It's a sad development, he's not my prophet. He's a non prophet organization as far as I'm concerned but yet he's referred to in papers in Reuters as the prophet Mohamed. This is new.

In 622 Mohamed set up the first theocratic Islamic state there in Medina or what we call Saudi Arabia today, Medina being of course a city in Saudi Arabia. He then ruled over this new city/state/theocracy in Medina, and Islam began to branch out and expand.

But by 632 Mohamed was dead. Mohamed died...he was gone off the scene.

And at that time when he died something happened in Islam that relates to the news today there was a split over who should succeed Mohamed as the caliph or successor. There were those who said
Abubakr, who was the father in law of Mohamed and a councilor to Mohamed... that he would be the successor and run this new city/state, this new empire based out of Medina.

That was the thought amongst many. Others though said, no they didn't like Abubakr and they said ultimately no no no it cannot be he, it must be Mohamed's son in law and cousin who's name was Ali.

He is the one, he is a son in law and he is a blood relation of Mohamed, he's Mohamed's cousin and they felt as though Ali should be the one.

So you have this division right then at the death of Mohamed.

Who will take over this new theocratic state? 2 groups formed one around Abubakr and one around Ali.

Well it went along fairly harmoniously even though there was this split in the understanding of who was the legitimate successor to Mohamed but then in 656 (if you're interested in dates) at that time something took place that caused real repercussions.

Ali's supporters killed the Kayla that followed Abubakr because they thought he had too much authority and was putting them down. No longer getting along with just differences in perspective but now they said he's got to go and they killed him.

Well when that took place when Ali's followers killed this successor of Abubakr, what happened then was, the followers of Abubkr's successors killed Ali's son. Now we have a problem, now we have people dying in Islam. Fighting over who is the legitimate branch of Islam.

And there is a great rift at this point and violence flares up ....not just against infidels... out there... against Muslims brother against brother. swords were unsheathed, blood flowed , hatred took root in such a way that two groups took formed.

There was the group around Abubakr (that was the father in law and councilor to Mohamed) they formed one group, they were known as the Sunnis. and then Ali's group was known as the Shiites.

You'll hear those terms in the news its important you understand... the Sunnis and Shiites, it's not just like Baptist and Lutherans. Its not like that, that's what people think. Too many people are ignorant...they think Sunni... Shiite... what's the big deal... it is a big deal.

It's not like Baptist and Lutheran it's more like Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland.

Its fighting and bloodletting- it's killing it's destroying- it's war- the wars rage on and on. Violence increased because Ali’s son who was killed (by the way was named Hussein I will not make any comments on our present president but the name has real implications in Islamic history obviously) blood flows and it grows and grows and continues to flow in fact if you're old enough to remember in 1980 to 1988 the Iran/Iraq war.

You might remember the war between Houmainie in Iran and Saddam Husein in Iraq. 2 Islam countries, but over a million men died in one of the most bloody and brutal wars in human history.

A million casualties and it was so bloody and so violent, you remember the stories of Saddam Husein and Iatola Houmani would have boys 7 8 and 9 run into mine fields to be blown up to detonate the mines that were laid by the millions between Iraq and Iran and these poor little kids you can see it on video tapes or perhaps you can recall from news reports of old these poor little kids marching off and then running into the mine fields only to be blown up...how could that possibly be.

Well because they were taught that if you do that if you die in jihad you will go to paradise immediately
and be greeted by 70 virgins. If you live your life, there's no guarantee if you'll make paradise.

You see Islam teaches unless you die in jihad, or unless you die being executed for the purpose of morality, at the end of the day if you don't die in jihad you don't know if you'll be in paradise until that great day when the dead are raised and there is a wire that extends from the mount of olives in Jerusalem to the top of the dome of the rock mosque or the dome of the rock monument that gold dome in Jerusalem ...a wire is there.

... and you have Mohamed on one side and you have Jesus on the other side both great prophets the Mohamed position being higher than the Jesus position... and you have people walking across the wire from the mount of olives to the dome of the rock mosque there in Jerusalem and as you walk the works that you've done come into play.

If you have one more good work than bad work you make it, and you have a chance to enter in to the kingdom. If you have one more bad work than good work, you fall off the wire and you burn in hell eternally.

Its all based upon works. Not grace and forgiveness and mercy but works and zeal. Its a real iffy proposition. So if you're in Islam, you think, man this is a little bit scary so how can I guarantee that I get into paradise?

Ah, if you become a martyr. if you give your life in jihad and war then you are automatically in you see.

And so this massive war against Iran and Iraq sending children into mine fields and men charging each other even in some cases, even unarmed with unarmed weapons just beating people using their unloaded riffles just to bludgeon the people across the lines what brings about this type of insanity.

Well its the hope of dying in jihad you see.

The other way you can make jihad is if if if you are a woman, make paradise, pardon me, you're a woman and if you are stoned because of immorality. You have the guarantee to go into paradise. You paid your price on earth so, you've been stoned as an example so, that's your ticket in.

Therefor it is common in Islamic cultures for men to rape women then have the woman impregnated accused of adultery and stoned. The man feels in so doing, he's helping her not hurting her. Because in raping her and impregnating her and then when she's taken and stoned she goes to paradise.

There's no guarantee she'd make it otherwise so it justifies men raping women and that's just why you'll never see in Islamic culture, a man stoned for immorality or for rape. But women will be stoned constantly. its a twisted perverted (obviously) demoralizing especially if your a woman , kind of thing.

But that's driving it all, how can we make it into paradise.

This was in the news yesterday, perhaps you saw it. it was on many of the wire services or news reports Feb 8th:

"a Muslim American Pakistani man who started a television station aimed at countering negative stereotypes of Muslims was found guilty yesterday of beheading his wife a jury in New York deliberated for an hour only on Monday before finding Musamo Hussan guilty of second degree murder.

Prosecutors say Husan used 2 hunting knives attacking his wife. About a week after she filed for divorce her body was found in the offices of bridge TV the station the two founded in 2004 to promote the image of peaceful Islam.

So she was killed, her head was cut off, and this man goes in after he cuts off her head, he turns himself into the police. He was confident that he was going to be released. But the jury in New York found him guilty of second degree murder... interesting, why?

Here's a guy and his wife that start Bridges TV... its on TV today in New York, a station that is trying to show that Islam is a peaceful religion.

...well he chopped off his wife's head, this founder of the TV station.

Its a whole different way of thinking. He is so doing, he turns himself in, the idea was he claimed that there was immorality. Therefore he was doing her a favor by chopping off her head. Because now rather than be an immoral person that wouldn't probably make it into paradise she dies for her error. Her head is lopped off and she makes it in.

It's an interesting mind set you see.

Well you say, where you going with this.

Well back to Iran and Iraq, why were they fighting? Very simple. One is a Shiite- that is Iran, they're followers of the Shia tradition which is, we believe that Ali and his descendants are the proper leaders of Islam at least for a while. What do you mean for a while?

You see, the 11th imam 11th leader in the Shiite branch of Islam the 11th leader in Shi'ite, the Shiite branch of Islam, which is what Iran embraces, died 874 ad.

His young son- the 12th imam- went to the funeral and while the funeral was going on the young son disappears. He just vanishes. You've heard talk perhaps about the 12th imam. This is what the Shia the Shiites believe -while the 12th imam was at the funeral of his dad the 12th imam just disappears but he will reappear.

The last legitimate imam (what they say) of Ali was at the funeral of his dad disappears mysteriously, miraculously whisked away into some place only to be revealed the 12th imam in the last days and bring peace he will make the world right he will set things straight the 12th imam is coming, that's what the Shiites believe.

The Sunnis say, you guys are crazy. That's insane, to limit it to the 12 imams the 11 that came successively the 12 that disappeared that's coming back you say some day who's already been here who's coming back that's a complete miss reading of the Koran.

Now, in Iran they're Shiites in Iraq the vast majority of Iraqis are Shiites too but the power was in the hands of a man named Saddam Husein who was not a Shiite he was a Sunni.

Khomeini came into power in 1980- after the Shaw fell (our guy that is the American guy) in 1979 the Shaw was ousted . '78 '79 Khomeini was in France -this imam- you know with the scowl on his face and the coal black eyes and the turban on his head comes back, and then in '79 shortly after he gets there the Iranian revolutionary guard corp IRGC is formed to carry out this re capturing of Shia in the whole region.

They do something, they captured the American embassy do you recall that story? In 1979 for 440 days 60 plus Americans were held hostage. Jimmy Carter was president made the demand to release hostages. They didn’t we tried to get them- failed- sent helicopters that got caught up in a dust storm- you know the story. In 1980 Regan was elected president. On inauguration day of his first term the Iranians let go of the American hostages. But Iran discovered that they can pretty much do what they want, America is a paper tiger.
So you have Iran with Khomeini back then- Rosbenjani today. They're Shiites.

Rosmenjani, every time he speaks... he's the present president... every time he speaks, whether its at the United Nations, in New York City, Paris, London, Argentina, Venezuela where he's been presently- every time he speaks he will start every speech with these words 'let my words and my actions hasten the return of the 12th imam.' and that's what he says at the beginning of every single statement or speech. 'let my words and my actions hasten the return of the 12th imam' that's this guy who disappeared and is going to be brought back.

But how is he going to be brought back.

He is brought back when the world is going up in smoke because of jihad. When the world is on fire when the world is in flames, when the world is at war -because of jihad- holy war, that will bring back -that will hasten the day of the 12th imam. The imam according to the Shiites is simply saying we will hasten the coming of the imam if and when and as we when we see the world go up in flames but it won't happen until that day. Were going to bring back the 12th imam by causing a world war.

You have to understand this.

That is what's going on in Shiite Islam. Sunni Islam now though where Shiia's are up north, that is Iran Iraq Saddam Hussein was Sunni but man they sent him packing you know the story gulf war and all the rest, he's no longer in play, and now the Shiites are totally in control of Iran Iraq and moving into through Syria, Lebanon.

The rest of the Islamic world though, 80 percent plus, is Sunni. Now the Sunnis they're a whole different bag of beans. They believe the 12th imam is fantasy and dangerous. The Sunnis believe that the Matti ..will come back but not in the Shia kind of way, but he's coming back as a Sunni.

What does that mean, the Sunnis think the Shiite have to be disciplined and their theology has to be obliterated and that will bring about the Matti.

Are you saying that there's 2 groups in Islam that hate each other? Exactly.

Bad blood, millions of deaths, historical hatred, at odds with each other, and here's the problem, the present situation. The Sunnis are afraid of the Shiites because Shia right now -because of whats taking place in Iran..are on the verge of a nuclear weapon. And they believe that bringing back the 12th imam means igniting the world in war.

The Saudi Arabians, the Jordanians, the Egyptians, 80% of the Islamic world says we've got to stop these guys. Saudi Arabia now because of this whole wiki leaks thing that you've been following a little bit, the release of pertinent papers and secret information- the whole Julia assage thing that's been coming down and going on one- of the key components in the wiki leaks is that the House of Saud the Saudi Arabians who are Sunni, feel as though there no way the Iranians are going to be stopped in the deployment and the development of nuclear weapons in the middle east.

It's going to happen they say through their arm Hezbollah. (literally party of god a Shia Muslim militant group based in Lebanon.) Hezbollah the arm/extension of the Shiite based out of Syria and Lebanon, primarily Lebanon. and what is so frightening is the missiles that they have developed in Iran have the ability to hit every major not only Israel but city but every single major center in southern Europe up to London England.

But not only that the weapons that are being developed right now, the fear is as they launched a scud missile two years ago in the Caspian sea, successfully, that is the Iranians, the weapons have already been transferred to Hezbollah, we already know this, its already been determined established if you follow these things you know, the fear is these scud missiles have the capabilities of being shot off like they were in the Caspian sea off of a frigate, a steam ship, a boat of any sort and can be shot up in to the air and be exploded 100 miles into the atmosphere.

That puts the electromagnetic pulse weapon into play. Explosion 100 miles into the air and lets just say over New York, Kansas -where ever- shot up 100 miles into the air exploded, the electromagnetic pulse that comes from the explosion will immediately fry every computer and every computer component in America.

Cars will stop, sewage systems will shut down, water won't flow, the electrical grid burned out, your cell phones obviously, laptops, ipads, it's all going to go immediately with this pulse of electromagnetic energy from one explosion that will then cause a short circuiting of everything in this country. The estimates are within 1 month 90% of Americans would be dead. Starvation, disease, panic, and warring against each other in terror.

Its interesting, it doesn't take a lot, just an explosion, a scud missile without the warhead, already done in the Caspian Sea, can paralyze and destroy a country like this or Europe or where ever. It doesn't mean just launching missile too into Jerusalem, oh that too, into Israel that too, it means controlling the world by bringing the world into destruction for the purpose of the appearance of the 12th Matti or the 12th imam. Are you with me.

The Sunnis say this is problematic. This is challenging, this is difficult.

The house of Saud says we've got to stop them. The problem is -and this is why the wiki leaks story is so really unsettling to us, the house of Saud has determined by what is taking place with Mubarak in Egypt right now. Mubarak was 'our boy'. 30 years in power because we bought him off. 70 billion dollars worth

-billions and billions of dollars worth- of the most sophisticated weaponry in our arsenal was given to the Egyptians to carry on the process started by Anwar Sadat. Sadat signed a peace treaty with Israel 1977. Shortly afterwards Sadat assassinated by the brotherhood in Egypt. He was taken out by the brotherhood. The Muslim brotherhood. Killed.

Mubared comes into power America sustains Mubarak because Mubarak says if you if you sustain me -if you support me, if you give me the arms I need, the financial support I demand and keep me in power I will keep the treaty that Sadat signed with menahem begin concerning Israel and Egypt.

America says OK. the region is stabilized because of Mubarak for 30 years. being bought off by America but now in the past week this sudden eruption takes place on the streets brother against brother. We see the Muslim brotherhood in play and the call for Mubarak to be brought down. We see a cry for a change in regime. and America does nothing.

In fact America says we're supporting whatever the people of Egypt want. Mubarak realizes 'I'm dead'. I've been sold out. My time is up. I'm through. That's one thing.

The house of Saud and the other Sunni leaders, dictators northern Africa around the Arabian gulf , they say America is not going to protect us so they now look towards china. They are cutting a deal as we speak saying America will not protect us. We need to have a different relationship with china primarily and Russia secondarily. America is an (quote) "unreliable" ally.

The Sunnis are afraid of the the Shiites. The Sunnis feel like they need to make a move and take control and destroy the Shiites if at all possible. So that's what the Egyptian thing is about. All of that southern area if you want to put it that way, that southern horn, the northern horn is shiite. the Sunnis far out number the Shiites. And the Sunnis say we've got to take control. And the Sunnis say (Saudi Arabia the rest) we've got to establish a new kind of of defense security to protect us from our Muslim enemies in the north.

America can no longer be the power broker, the keeper of peace.

So now there's a shifting going on. A shifting of political tectonic plates. Shifting and moving right now as we speak in such a way that you might recall that that prompt then, ahmadinejad (we saw this last week in the news) what does he do, he again is the shiite up in Iran, what does he do? He says OK, if they're going to look to china and Russia, we will look to Venezuela Hugo Chavez

For what purpose. Why are they in South America right now.

Sealing up, tying up, all of the oil that could be available to America. making a treaty with them demanding an alliance one with another. Ultimately to squeeze America and the west out completely.

So all this shifting and maneuvering is going on even as we speak. It's ominous it's interesting it's dangerous.

So when you watch the events realize this. Its a power play not just to kick out Western backed dictators but to see in this age old struggle between Shiites and Sunnis, who will ultimately call the shots and gain power and be as they've been fighting all this time, the legitimate representative of the Islamic community and theology.

Both groups believe in Mohamed is the supreme profit both believe in paradise. They both believe in a coming kingdom but in entirely different ways. Through different means.

And it's sort of like you know, Christians and Jews both anticipating the coming of the kingdom. But the question is you know like they say in Israel well, when Messiah comes the first question we're going to ask him they say in Israel... is this your first time or second time.

The same thing is true the Shiites say this is his second time. He was here and he disappeared he was hidden away and now he's back where as the Sunnis say no no no the Matti has not yet been on earth he's coming some day but it's not going to be via war and destruction like the Sunnis say.

...Heard a story of 3 Rabbis that were talking in New York City and they were sharing you know, sharing their stories one with the other over a cup of coffee and one Rabi said 'I sent my son to Israel ...came back a Christian'. Second Rabi said, 'amazing. I sent my son to Israel and he came back a Christian too'. The third Rabbi said, 'I sent my son to Israel and he came back a Christian too.' there was a voice from heaven...I sent my son to Israel... (Jon makes a face audience chuckles at joke)

The Muslim brotherhood what's in play in Egypt today, is trying to bring the caliphate, the rule of Islam back to Egypt. It was in Egypt from 1258 till 1517, that's where the headquarters of Islam was based in Egypt.

It was then taken from Egypt and taken to turkey when the ottoman empire was established from 1517 to 1917, 400 years the ottoman Turks controlled the entire Arab world and there in Turkey that was where the caliphate was moved to. That was the center of Islam.

But then WW1 came, 1917 what happened was the ottoman Turks were siding with the Germans they lost the war, the Ottoman empire was broken up split up, put into the arrangement basically that its in today, as the English were the victors, the Americans were the victors, the middle east was re drawn up, the empire was no more, and then that was in 1924 when all the new lines were drawn, the new countries.

Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Lebanon, and so forth and so on were formed. Then in 1928 there was a man that came onto the scene Al-Banna. Al-banna was shocked this Egyptian as the westerners came in the Brits were occupying, the Americans, the French and they saw such immorality such blatant sin really, it was a shock to him and a shock to them, the western influence, that they are still complaining about to this day.

In 1928, this Al-banna said were going to start the Muslim brotherhood to return the caliphate back where it belongs to Egypt. And the Muslim brotherhood was started in 1928.

@@@@@@@

In 1928 Turkey blew it in the Ottoman Empire. They were heretical, which lead to WW1, they lost the caliphate, power shifted then up North to the Shiites it belongs to Egypt were going to return it. And their desire is to see Egypt the most populous nation in the Arab world be the center of the Caliphate again the center of power religiously and civilly in every way.

To do that part of it was to rally the troops around a mutual hatred of Israel, they started a group called hamas. hamas is the extension of the Muslim brotherhood. Hezbollah's the extension of the Shiites in Iran and now Iraq. Hezbollah attacks from the north attacking Israel, Hamas' in the south , that is up against Israel, to do what, quoting sirrah 8 60 as their theme verse, quote, strike terror in the hearts of all infidels using terror to fill their hearts with fear.

They believes, the sirrah is a verse in the Koran, that speaks of utilizing whatever means necessary to bring people into submission of Islam through terror primarily. And so hamas has been doing just that..

The brotherhood though, has been outlawed though in Egypt as Mubarak was keeping it in check but now even though it has been outlawed it has been underground. But now it is emerging, now rising.

What can we expect to see.
We can expect to see brother against brother in the Islamic world, brother against brother in Egypt. We can expect to see destruction as talked about in this chapter

We can expect to see more and more turmoil in the Islamic world which causes there to be an increased danger in the whole world, because the solution for the Shiites is to cause a world war to prove that they're right and the Sunnis are wrong, to bring the 12th imam back.

You see up until this time there was a thing that America and Russia were the 2 nuclear powers joined shortly thereafter by China and Pakistan and England and France and Israel. There's a thing in play called Mad- Mutually Assured Destruction.

What that meant was, every body was afraid to push the button, launch the missiles, strike with nuclear weapons, because if you did so every body was going to die. Every body knew that , it was called MAD.

But now, in the Islamic mindset, especially in the Shia mindset its not mad its glad. Its hey, that's not a deterrent that's an attraction . If we can get the whole world to go up in smoke if we can get the whole world to break out in flames that will bring back the 12th imam. That's why achmajinidad says what he says. and he means even as he says. I want to hasten the return of the 12th Imam.

They will use their weapons They will be glad to see the world go up in flames they'd be delighted to see everything on the planet burning to accomplish the goal of bringing back the so called leader , the 12th imam.

We can't imagine that, in the western world we say I can't imagine somebody wanting to see everything and every body die. That's the problem the western world can't imagine it. and its a failure of imagination that's caused us to be deceived not understanding the mindset of the middle east and what were up against there.

So OK Jon you lost me a long time ago but what are you saying? Just this, in summation and then application.

Summation is this. Exactly as it says, there's going to come and were seeing it today turmoil in Egypt specifically and it precludes it precedes the very last days. The coming of the King of Kings. Our king is coming not because we hasten the day by bringing war, our king is coming because we hasten the day by sharing peace. The gospel of peace. Your sins are forgiven your sins are washed away. Your Lord loves you, died in your place set you free.

Welcomes you whether you are Iranian American Egyptian whatever you might be chines Japanese Mexicanese whatever you might be you are welcome to come in your sins are forgiven we hasten the day by preaching the gospel the good news.

This is a diabolical, devilish counter fit, it says well hasten the day by bringing in war and causing the world to be ignited globally. This is whats happening here. This Spirit. Where does it come from.
Verse 3 tells us that it comes from a spirit of idols charmers familiar spirits and wizards.

Don't have time tonight, thought i would, don't, that is to describe to you or explain to you that when Mohamed first received his revelation in his cave, he was convinced at first it was demon spirits that came but it was his wife who was much much older than he that convinced him that its not demons wizards charmers the voices your hearing the message you're getting is divine.

Mohamed himself (there’s no debate about this) was initially taken back by what he heard and was very very frightened and skeptical of its reality as it relates to God. its all a demonic charmed deceptive wizard familiar spirit -as what’s talked about here- that’s what’s driving it... fighting one against the other, that’s what’s happening.

A cruel king will rule over them ultimately whether its rasmenjanni whether its akmenjenijad whether its whoever it might be shiia or Sunni- a cruel king will rule over them. Peace will not happen in the region , not ultimately. It will happen only when Jesus Christ returns its going to get bad.

So what do we do in light of that? Well, chapter 20, in the year that Tartan came to Ashdod, when Sardon the king of Assyria sent them, Ashdod is in what we call the Gaza strip today- there on the Mediterranean coast of Israel.

At the same time the lord spoke to Isaiah- verse 2, go and lose the sackcloth off thy loins and put off thy shoe from thy foot. He did so walking naked and barefoot and the lord said, like as my servant Isaiah has walked naked and barefoot three years for a sign and a wonder upon Egypt and upon the Ethiopians so shall the king of Assyria lead away the Egyptians prisoners and the Ethiopians captive young and old naked and barefoot even with their buttocks uncovered the shame of Egypt and they shall be afraid and ashamed of Ethiopia and the inhabitants of that isle shall say in that day behold such is our expectation whether we flee for help to the king of Assyria how shall we escape.

Isaiah says now look, God says to Isaiah now look the Assyrians the northern group is going to invade Egypt immediately fulfilled in your day …fully fulfilled in that day when the north is at war with the south.

That is as I understand it shiia. Against Sunni brother against brother, Islam against Islam, turmoil and tension. Now God says to Isaiah in his day, you walk around naked for three years. Whether this means he was stark naked or whether this means he had just his undergarments on is a matter of debate and not germane to the discussion. What ever it was, it was humiliating for him, embarrassing to him, but he walked around for three years.

People said, what are you doing walking around that way Isaiah and Isaiah would say you need to know the truth and the truth is this there’s going to come an invasion between Assyria (Iran Iraq today) and Egypt there’s going to come a horrible clash there’s going to come devastation and destruction you need to know this.

He makes known the message to the people of the region particularly in Israel I'll explain why momentarily. He walks around in that way. People are astonished. They'e wondering. He's got their attention.

Were to walk around in this day. People don’t know what to think, they don’t know what’s going on, what’s the deal with Iran, Iraq, with Egypt, with Saudi Arabia, what’s going on there in Tunisia, in northern Africa.

We get to walk around, not baring our bottoms but baring our souls and say you know you need to understand. I’m going to be nakedly open with you. I’m going to tell you the naked honest truth the things going on in the middle east, even though I can’t explain all the details to you we might say ill tell you this, its all in the bible.

Tension in the middle east, a battle called Armageddon ultimately causing all the armies in the world to come together in a conflict on that day that will bring ultimately Jesus Christ to rescue to redeem to save but know this.

What you’re seeing is not going to be solved by any politicalling, by any state departmenting any thing that man can do in his flesh or through his flesh , it wont work. the answer to the problems in the middle east or in any region of the world or in any person personally is an understanding, Lord its you alone that can provide stability its you alone that can bring in your kingdom and I’m going to be real honest with people, the time for shying away backing off just sort of sitting there passively everybody’s talking about the middle east right now and I’m just going to get into the fray by just baring my heart by saying to people as I’ve got to do personally a bunch. what’s happening is this bible prophecy is being fulfilled and there is a hope for every person whether in the middle east or in the Midwest of America there’s hope and that is Jesus Christ is coming back. Jesus Christ is on the way. Jesus Christ says when you see these things happen lift up your heads don’t hang down your heads your redemption draws nigh when you see perplexities among nations when you see brother against brother as it relates to the middle east Islam when you see the troubles against Assyria coming together as it is today coming into play when you see fears and tensions and the reordering of nations when you see America seeming to be strangely impotent and completely unable to affect anything when you see all this happen know this the Lord's coming.

oh Jon I’ve been here for 30 years and you been saying this for 30 years you been talking about signs of the times the middle east Jerusalem Islam china Russia all the rest for 30 years Jon.

I talked to a guy yesterday who kindly but nevertheless said that to me and I said all I can say I’ve just got one word to say 'Jeremiah'.

for 40 years Jeremiah said its coming I said I got ten more years. for 40 years Jeremiah said its coming and you know what the people said, aw pipe down shut up were OK. Jeremiah said, its coming the Babylonians are coming they're way up there ..again part of present day Iraq Iran.

Hey don’t worry about them they're far away another part of the world you been talking year after year…Jeremiah said its coming Jeremiah got frustrated said lord they’re not listening to me in fact they threw me in a pit and left me there to die he goes lord I’ve had it I’m not going to speak any more in your name but then you know what happened the word of god was like a fire in my bones and I could not shut up the word of god like fire in our bones we cannot shut up.

You know just when you say they’re not listening they’re not getting it don’t know lord then something else breaks out on the news something else flares up in the middle east something else takes place in china something else takes place in the western world something else unfolds in Europe and you go man how can we shut up how can we shut up.

sign after sign thing after thing anyplace you look in the scriptures, this is talking about these days

the burden of Egypt, problems of Egypt . Jeremiah preached for 40 years, 40 years is a generation biblically and they said nah, then Jeremiah sat on the hillside in Jerusalem and wrote the book of lamentation s weeping. cause people didn’t believe the message. they were told they were warned they were instructed they were encouraged, but they didn’t believe him.

suddenly the Babylonians come Jerusalem is destroyed the temple is pulled down people are caught off guard. tears flow. blood every where. Jeremiah weeps.

We got to bare our souls we just cant sit there, this is the time to become vocal to bare our souls to share the truth. to engage conversation. to let people know, the bible is being fulfilled before their very eyes.

what should we do? I don’t think the answer is necessarily going to be elect a different president or reelect this one either, either way, Isaiah chapter 30 i'll be done in 10 minutes or less.

woe to the rebellious children who take council but not of me. That cover with a covering but not of my spirit that they may add sin to sin that walk to go down into Egypt verse 2 they’re headed to Egypt in Isaiah s day. the Assyrians in the north were threatening Israel… Israel says here’s what we'll do we'll go down to Egypt well get an alliance with Egypt to ward off the as Syrians to hold at bay the Assyrians they go down to Egypt to try to solve their situation

but you haven’t asked me the lord says you seek to strengthen yourself in the strength of pharaoh, in the shadow of Egypt therefore verse three therefore shall the strength of the pharos be your shame and the shadow of Egypt be your confusion its not going to work

verse 15 mark this note this we all should be aware of this thus sayeth the lord the holy one of Israel in returning to me and in rest you shall be saved. in quietness and confidence shall be your strength but you would not . Well flee upon horses therefore shall you flee indeed …well ride upon the swift. Therefore the pursue you shall be swift…

I know your trying (god says to his people) to figure out what you can do to solve this problem with the Assyrians looming over you being a threat to you we have this idea of political alliances. we have this idea of sending emissaries and ambassadors. but its not gonna work. you should return to me and rest verse 15 retuning to me and then rest you shall be saved. in quietness and confidence shall be your strength.

that’s what you should do in these troubling times god says to his people then about the turmoil there. you should return to me and rest. Be quiet and be confident in me trust me seek me believe me the lord is saying. bah we’ve got all our horses figured out vs. 16 we’ve got it all figured out were going to run with our plan oh boy the lord sys but they that pursue you are going to be swifter than you your plans are not going to work

therefore finally vs. 18 the lord waits, the lord just waits. He may be gracious to you and therefore will he be exalted because he may have mercy upon you for the lord is a god of judgment blessed are they that what …wait for him.

the lord’s waiting …waiting for what, waiting for us to get off our high horses our plans and say what say lord I’m just going to look to you walk with you talk about you its not going to be solved about a change of congress, by strengthening our military, by stopping akmajinedad all those plans are doomed to fail

the only hope we have individually and as a country is to wait on god. turn to god trust in god get right with god believe in god. in returning and rest you shall be saved in quietness and confidence shall be your strength. That’s what you do.

spend time with the lord talk to others about the lord lift your heads and look up anticipating the coming of the lord. may the lord be your thing. not changing political machinations or building up political machinery its not even used when we have it. parenthetically …why are we doing nothing about akmanjenidad …why is Europe doing nothing… bottom line is everybody is saying let Israel take care of it

like they took care of the nuclear reactor in 1982. its their problem it’s the Jew’s problem let the Jews take care of it …oh I cant go down that road there’s a whole other subject I want to talk about another time another place but my oh my suffice it to say there’s no hope in trusting in Israel as a nation either.

in the idf or their ability. the only hope that any nation or any country or any body has is to say righteousness exalts a nation and sin is a reproach to any nation.

if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and turn from their wicked ways I will hear from heaven and I will heal their land let us purpose Applegate family as we see these things unfold. turmoil, danger, nuclear weaponry brother against brother militant people brother against brother to bring in the 12th imam let us say lord let them do what they may but our eyes are on you and we’re gonna bare our souls and walk in the naked truth that Jesus Christ is the only hope for this world.

the only hope for any country he’s the only hope for you and let me tell you about him lets be Christians more than ever this is the time ….. And in closing if you have not been living a serious life this is the time really if your life has been comical, carnal, trivial, silly, dumb, shallow, meaningless, wasteful this is the time to say you know there’s something going on in the world something’s going down,

its not something it s someone Jesus Christ is coming and its time for people like me and its time for people like you time for us to strip away all other stuff and get down to the bare essentials like Isaiah and say you know my life is going to be about living for the kingdom talking to people about heaven letting folks know that there’s hope your sins are paid for I can be a part of his forever family I’m going to be about that that’s my life

I may work as a school teacher I may work as a policeman I may sell real estate …fine but my life is not about those things my life is singularly about prepare to meet your god get ready get ready get right this is the time Applegate Christian fellowship seize the day if your e not going to be serious about jesus now you never will be

with the news as it is and the world as it is I don’t know what else it would take for a person to finally say …this is serious stuff …my life is going to be about seeking first the kingdom …in returning to me in rest you shall be saved in quietness and confidence shall be your strength.
